Holding degrees from UC Berkeley and UC Davis with a BA in English literature and Master of Fine Arts in Acting I’ve worked in education, marketing, theatre and in emerging technology sectors in one form or another since the mid aughties. In 2016 I moved to Spain and then the UK.
In 2018 whilst on a PhD performing arts tract, my trajectory altered – I fell in love with the most delightful British chap. Kismet, cuddling, oneness, endorphins all commingling. . . My background in the arts and design combined with my partner's years of expertise in innovative gem tech and jewellery retail inspired us to develop something new, and early 2019, we began to create Avila Vara.
My passions centre on a love affair with beauty and identity and how these concepts capture gender, art, and time. This is likely why my designs range from ultra feminine and unapologetically ornate to austere and futuristic, a mix of style and conceptualism that embodies idealistic practice and the visually delicious. Pop and pragmatism to hyper-romanticism. You can love Jane Austen and Avatar, indulge in Keats and Shelley and always have a Jack Reacher at hand on your tablet. You can be both.
